Unemployment rates fell in August in nearly 90% of the largest metro areas. The reason for this is because more people have given up looking for work.
The U.S. Labor Department said yesterday that unemployment rates dropped in 329 large cities, the most in four months.
Rates did rise, however, in 24 cities. Nineteen other cities had unchanged unemployment rates.
