As Madonna travels the globe on her MDNA Tour, she has received a great deal of heat for her usage of the Nazi Swastika during her performances. However, the ever-controversial pop star makes no apologies regarding her choice of performance imagery. She defends herself by explaining the Swastika image helps to promoter her message of growing intolerance around the world regarding religious affiliation. Furthermore, she identifies the imagery as a part of her art and expression.

The Swastika symbol is debuted in her performance of “Nobody Knows Me,” accompanied by a montage of other national political figures. The inclusion of  France’s National Front leader, Marine Le Pen, has caused a real stir as France’s far-right party has even said they would sue Madge.

As controversial as Madonna’s choice of tour imagery is, when has she ever been known to give a safe performance?
