After all of the conversations and debates, surrounding the movie adaptation of Steve Harvey‘s ‘Act Like A Lady, and Think Like A Man”, the debates can be finally put to rest.
This weekend, the movie captured $33 million at the box office, topping “The Hunger Games” which has been number one for four weeks. This is really good news, because the movie itself costed three million dollars.
One of the actors who will be celebrating is Cincinnati’s Gary Owen, who played the role of Bennett in the movie.
There were women who called for an outright boycott of “Think Like A Man” because of the portrayal of women as calculating, man-thirsty and incapable of finding and maintaining healthy relationships that was evident throughout the book, refusing to put a dime in Steve Harvey’s pocket.
However 62% of excited movie-goers were Black women 30 and older, and graded the film an “A,” according to CinemaScore. No research has been done to see how it played in markets outside of the Black demographic.
