In 2005 off duty officer Howard Morgan was shot 28 times by four Chicago police officers….and lived. Apparently 28 shots is considered a reasonable reaction when you catch someone driving the wrong way down a one way street in Chicago. The four officers claimed that Morgan shot at them first, but in 2007, a jury acquitted Morgan of aggravated battery and discharging a weapon at a police officer.
So how is it possible that he was convicted in a second trial of attempted murder of the officers who shot him? He now faces a possible 80 years in prison. Sentencing takes place today.
