Taylor Markeith Smith approached schools with fake names and false stories, but his scheme was quickly uncovered at many of the schools he attempted to con.

He showed up at one school with a birth certificate officials quickly determined that it was fake.

At another school, under the name Iesis Smith, he showed up at a football practice with someone posing as a caseworker.

Smith’s con was unraveled when the South Oak Cliff coach Kendall Miller ran the ID number that the caseworker provided. The picture that turned up matched, but the name did not.
