Frustrating news this morning as reports come out of the Monroe, Ohio area as I-75 northbound reopened after a tragic end to a young driver’s life.

Traffic has resumed to normal pace as the highway has reopened, but a fatal crash involving 16-year-old Jordan Day of West Chester is what forced authorities to shut down things down for nearly three hours last night just after midnight.

Jordan Day, who was driving a Lexus GS 400, was reportedly being chased by highway troopers who spotted him during speed patrols in West Chester. Day began traveling at speeds up to and beyond 130 mph after initially being clocked at 122 mph before speeding off when the trooper got close enough to get a license plate number.

He apparently loss control of the vehicle and hit a tractor-trailer stopped in the right breakdown lane. The engine of the vehicle burst into flames and Day was reportedly ejected from the car. Day was pronounced dead on the scene.

Parents, are you watching your child’s speed when they’re driving? What was this teen up to at midnight on a weekday reaching speeds of over 130 mph? West Chester and Monroe are definitely not the places for nonsense on the highway. How do you all feel about this one?
