CHICAGO— A Chicago mother smothered her 3-month-old son because he wouldn’t stop crying, strapped him into a stroller and went shopping.

Authorities said Toyrianna Smith, 20, beat and suffocated her son, Ken Blackman Jr., at a friend’s home after drinking vodka with friends in South Chicago.

The next morning Smith reportedly put a blanket over the toddler, strapped him in a BabyBjorn and went shopping for several hours. A neighbor, who noticed blood on the child’s blanket and that he wasn’t breathing, called 911.

Blackman was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Harvey where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed he died from suffocation and had been dead for 14 hours.

According to the Sun-Times, Smith admitted to killing the boy and used a toy doll to demonstrate for cops how she hit and smothered him.

She was charged with first-degree murder and ordered held on $1 million bond.
