Tennessee Tea Party

In Tennessee, tea party groups are lobbying their local boards of education to downplay , and in some cases remove, slavery from their textbooks. They feel that the founding founders are getting unfair criticism in the history books.

According to reports, Hal Rounds, the Fayette County attorney and spokesman for the group, said during a recent news conference that there has been “an awful lot of made-up criticism about, for instance, the founders intruding on the Indians or having slaves or being hypocrites in one way or another.”

Ron Harwell, a black tea partier and candidate for congress, called in to the TJMS to discuss the lobbying efforts with Roland Martin. To hear Roland’s interview with him, check out the audio below.
