It’s All “Good in the Hood”

Today it’s “Good In the Hood”. There is something that feels good when you see people pitching in to help their communities. We are a world that thrives on the good of each other. We are not created to be held down by all the negativity we see each night on the evening news. The hood can be where you work, where you live or just where you are mentally. There are many people who are doing good. There are men and women striving by doing the best they can with what they have.

Let’s take a moment to enjoy all the great things that are happening in our school, communities and work places.

Today we can embrace all that is good from people doing good by following the lyrics:

Some of us are/ Going to bed about eleven got to get up real early be at work quarter to seven /Some of us are/ Going to school not skipping class/ Didn’t make the dean’s list but we still goin’ to pass Some of us are/ Taking good care of all our kids/ Makin’ sure they got clothes and something in the fridge/ Some of us are/ Happy with life we down with Christ/ Got a good head on our shoulders and we feel alright

MaLinda Sapp’s Homegoing Services

On Thursday, September 16th, Dr. MaLinda Prince Sapp’s life will be celebrated during her homegoing service at Resurrection Life Church (located at 5100 Ivanrest Avenue SW, Grandville, MI 49418-2358). This church holds special significance for the Sapp family, because it’s where Sapp’s husband Marvin recorded his last two albums which were very successful: “Thirsty” and “Here I Am.”

The family hour for MaLinda Sapp’s homegoing is from 11:00 am-12 pm, and the service will follow immediately after at noon. “Relatives are coming from out of town as the time approaches,” stated family spokeswoman Sandra Riley.

MaLinda Sapp’s homegoing comes one week after she passed away from colon cancer. She earned respect in the Gospel music industry for her work as the manager of her husband Pastor Marvin Sapp, and was highly regarded for her work in Lighthouse Full Life Church Center, the church they founded together.

MaLinda Sapp is survived by her husband Marvin and three children: Marvin II, Mikaila and Madisson. Find out more about the life this dynamic woman led in the links below.

Marvin Sapp’s Wife Passes After Cancer Battle

It’s with our deepest sympathy that we inform you that Pastor Marvin Sapp’s wife MaLinda Sapp has passed on today after battling colon cancer.

It was confirmed on the Lonnie Williams show today. An official press release has not been issued yet, but more details will be coming on The Yolanda Adams Morning Show tomorrow morning!

Earlier this year, Marvin Sapp was testifying of how his wife, MaLinda, was given a clean bill of health by doctors after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in 2009. But then, those health concerns resurfaced and Marvin Sapp requested intense, around-the-clock prayer.

Back in April of 2009 Marvin Sapp’s wife MaLinda went to the hospital after experiencing excruciating pain. At first, the two thought she likely had kidney stones. But according to Sapp, the doctors checked her and couldn’t find any stones. In a recent interview he explained, “But the pain wouldn’t leave, so they did some tests and came back to the room and told us it was stage four colon cancer.” Then, earlier this year, the doctors pronounced Mrs. Sapp Cancer-free.

Are Your Relationships Bearing the Right Fruit?

Life is comprised of many lessons, all designed to confirm us, or grow us. I learned early in life, despite some repeat lessons, those lessons played a significant role in who I am today.

For a number of years, I believed that everybody had my best interest at heart. Even within my circle of what I called “my sisters and brothers at the church,” I was quick to elevate those that spoke the name of the Lord or said something “Godly.” I failed to realize, that regardless of what is said, thought or done, each of us are human beings subject to our humanism.

Matthew 7:18-20, focuses on “The Fruit of the Spirit,” a message that could be compared to a nugget of wisdom once shared by Maya Angelou, “when people show you who they are, you must believe them.” I didn’t do that, I continued to focus on what was being said. In many cases, as I look back, the truth was right before my eyes, but I wanted to believe otherwise.

I take responsibility for those times of disappointment, sadness, and hurt. At those times, my thought process was faulty. I failed to remember the lessons of Matthew 7:18-20, as well as, the wisdom of Maya Angelou.

Rather than curling into a fetal position and spending time being emotionally distraught, I should have taken the opportunity to model what the Fruit of the Spirit looks like.

Encounters that are rooted in the Fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance; could heal a lot of wounded warriors.

I soon realized that change had to begin with me. Change meant that when faced with fruitless encounters, I needed to respond with fruit. Fruitless plus fruitless only equaled fruitless. The lesson learned for me was, if I wanted to have a different experience, I had to boldly walk in the fruit I was searching for. By boldly walking in the fruit of the spirit, there was a strong possibility that my example just might catch on!
