The food famously craved by stoners in the 2004 movie “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” can be had with a glass of wine or a domestic or seasonal beer at a Lafayette, Ind., restaurant that fuses a conventional White Castle with a new concept for the company called Blaze Modern BBQ. Wine costs $4.50 and beers start at $3.

“This was something that customers had been suggesting,” said Jamie Richardson, a spokesman for Columbus-based White Castle System Inc. “They thought that beer and wine might go nicely with the barbecue that was available at Blaze. We’re certain that we might have some customers who might enjoy some sliders and a beer or wine as well.”

Other fast-food restaurants also are dabbling with alcohol. Earlier this year, Burger King opened the Whopper Bar South Beach, a restaurant in Miami Beach offering beer, and Starbucks Corp. has been testing beer and wine at a few sites.

The companies see alcoholic beverages as a growth opportunity after years of flat sales, said David Henkes, a vice president with the Chicago-based food research firm Technomic. “Alcohol is one of those things that is extremely profitable to the operator,” he said.

White Castle’s beer and wine tryout is part of a broader experiment with three new concepts that the company has been studying for a little over a year, Richardson said Wednesday. Besides Blaze Modern BBQ, there’s also an Asian food brand, Laughing Noodle, at a White Castle in Springfield, Ohio, and a triple-decker sandwich concept, Deckers, in Lebanon, Tenn.

Customers have had a “very positive” reaction to the alcoholic beverages offered in Indiana, but for now, White Castle is considering only whether to expand them to the two other co-branded restaurants, Richardson said.

White Castle would face challenges trying to roll out beer and wine on a wider scale, Henkes said.

“What we find with fast-food places is, there’s very strict regulations around training. Typically, a lot of the employees in fast food are under 21, so you get into some service issues,” he said. “You get into some inventory issues. You get into whether distributors are willing to deliver to you because you’re generally not doing a whole lot of volume in these categories.”

Adding beer and wine to the menu sounds fine to lifelong White Castle fan Jim Kreml of Elk River, Minn. – even though he’s a teetotaler. “I know my wife would love that because she is a wine drinker,” said Kreml, the operator of a chimney-cleaning business who acknowledged he eats at the restaurants “a couple of times a week.”

Kreml, named in 2009 to White Castle’s Cravers Hall of Fame, said Wednesday that he would expect alcoholic beverage options to be popular with many slider aficionados. “If they’re of age and they drink that already, I think they’d be happy with that. As long as they’re responsible and don’t sit in there, and that’s not party time,” he said.

Some have called the report a continuation of an urban myth, but KPHO stands by their story and Reason Magazine has found several cases of vodka soaked tampons.

Other sites have called KPHO’s story into question, saying the practice remains unverified despite multiple reports of incidents in the U.S. and elsewhere. One blogger conducted her own informal trial to see whether the purported method worked, with unfavourable results.

But KPHO News reports there have been some cases of alcohol poisoning after utilizing these methods. In addition to using tampons, the broadcast also stated that teens are taking part in “butt chugging” where alcohol is consumed rectally with a beer bong or beer funnel. “Butt chugging” seems to be done to avoid having alcohol breath.

A video that surfaced on the web last week shows Combs lashing out at an Atlanta party-goer for not drinking Ciroc.

“Put that sh** down,” Combs said as he reached in his pocket and threw an unidentified object into the crowd.

According to Silver, Comb’s rant and his use of the N-word during the incident was out of line and racist.

“In modern times racism should not be portrayed by any individual and Diddy should donate proceeds of his profits to organizations that fight racism,” Silver said.

The fued between Silver and Combs comes months after Silver responded to Combs’ claim that all vodkas other than Ciroc are “pee pee” by filling a toilet bowl with bottles of Ciroc and delivering it to the Combs’ midtown office.

“I was drunk, and I did not realize I was pissing on her leg,” the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Vietze said, according to law-enforcement sources. He later claimed to have consumed eight alcoholic beverages.

The girl’s father caught Vietze midstream.

“I woke up to this man yelling and literally looking like he was about to punch this kid in the face,” said the witness, who asked not to be identified.

As you recall, rumors began circulating yesterday that Whitney Houston, the international recording diva was battling emphysema and we told you that we would keep you posted on whether or not this was true.

Well E! Online is confirming that this is completely false! Can we all say ‘Shoop?!’

Whitney’s rep, Kristen Foster, exclusively tells E! News that the National Enquirer‘s report is “completely untrue.” Guess we’ll all have to put that rumor to rest.

The 47-year-old has been known to smoke cigarettes, a habit that her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina may have picked up – as photographers have caught her puffing away. Evidence of possible lung problems were brought to the forefront last year when Houston, while on tour, was unable to perform several of her hits without her voice cracking and becoming short of breath.

According to the Enquirer, Bobbi Kristina, who was allegedly in rehab for her own drug addiction, is said to be desperately trying to save her mother’s life by getting her to stop smoking. As previously reported, Whitney Houston enrolled in an outpatient rehab program in May. Houston has yet to release a statement confirming or denying that she has emphysema. The physical, psychological and social problems were among the effects that were looked at, which determined the score for each drug.

The drugs were scored on a scale of 100, with alcohol receiving a score of 72. Meanwhile, heroin and crack cocaine received scores of 55 and 54, respectively.

Britain’s former chief drug adviser and professor, David Nutt, who caused controversy last year after he published an article saying ecstasy was not as dangerous as riding a horse, co-authored the article  for The Lancet.

“So why are harmful sporting activities allowed, whereas relatively less harmful drugs are not?” Nutt wrote in the Journal of Psychopharmacology. “I believe this reflects a societal approach which does not adequately balance the relative risks of drugs against their harms.”
