Greetings saints! Aren’t you glad we’ve been blessed to see another day, another Monday, another start to a successful week ahead? Stop for a moment and tell God thank you for his unmerited favor and blessings upon each of our lives.

Well, now that we’ve shaken things up a bit today, here’s an update on one of gospel music’s brightest stars. Our good friend and urban/contemporary gospel singer/songwriter Deitrick Haddon has dropped another bomb on the industry. Haddon can currently be found working extremely hard in preparation for his motion picture debut in the new film Blessed and Cursed.

Written entirely by the famed gospel artist, the movie is said to be a 21st century adaptation of the Biblical account of Saul and David. Deitrick Haddon’s co-stars include familiar faces such as legendary actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and Drew Sidora.

The film will also feature guest appearances by a bunch of additional favorites from both the urban and traditional gospel worlds. Look for budding actress Kierra Sheard (who also recently co-starred in The Preacher’s Kid alongside R&B music’s Tank and LeToya Luckett) accompanied by her mother Karen Clark Sheard.

Deitrick’s wife and gospel sensation Damita Haddon will also make an appearance with Dr. Bobby Jones, J. Moss, Jor’el Quinn of urban gospel trio 21:03, underground gospel great Mali Music and the legend himself, Rance Allen.

This star-studded film project is already on its way to us faster than we think. Set for release on DVD next month on Tuesday, July 27th, the film will be supported by a brand new album from Deitrick Haddon and his choir the Voices of Unity. The accompanying soundtrack to the movie features Deitrick Haddon and VOU on the lead single “Judah,” which makes its nationwide impact next week on Tuesday, June 29th.
