The mayor of Gary, Indiana has officially announced that the childhood hometown of the late Michael Jackson is currently planning a tribute to the entertainer in honor of the one-year anniversary of his death on Friday, June 25th.

The King of Pop will be celebrated in the special tribute on the grounds of his former house and reportedly Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother will also attend the event along with her granddaughter, Genevieve Jackson, the daughter of Randy Jackson.

Featuring speeches, performances and a candlelight vigil, the ceremony will be among many others across the world throughout the weekend to mark the one-year anniversary of music and entertainment’s greatest loss. Has it really been a year already?
