After a five year recording hiatus, gospel supergroup The Soul Seekers returns with brand new foot-stomping, hand-clapping music for ensemble singers abroad. The new single titled “It’s All God” features guest vocals from Detroit’s own Pastor Marvin Winans and is scheduled to hit radio stations this week. The single from the forthcoming album tentatively titled “The Soul Seekers 2,”which is due to hit stores later this year. We hear the news about the single and upcoming project already has fans anticipating a huge return for the group.
If you’re unfamiliar with the gentlemen, you must first know that the members of the Stellar Award-winning group formed the contemporary gospel quartet by utilizing the gifts of young men who have all worked in the mainstream music industry in various capacities.They each decided to blend those gifts in a unique and typically unconventional way by making music for God only this time around its together.
They are distinguished by the rare fact that everyone in the group is fully capable of producing and singing lead as well as playing an instrument. And they sound like they have been singing and playing together most or all their lives.
The Soul Seekers are comprised of members Teddy Campbell, Warryn Campbell (husband of Erica Campbell of MaryMary), Nisan Stewart, John “Jubu” Smith, Gerald Haddon (brother of contemporary gospel’s Deitrick Haddon), Charlie Bereal, Craig Brockman and Eric Seats. Between all of their impressive resumes, you’ll quickly see these fellas have tons of experience working with big ticket artists from Beyonce and Missy Elliott to Nelly, 50 Cent, Diddy, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston and even Bette Midler.
Each member brings something special to the up-to-date churchy sound that’s full of classic praise breaks and funky backyard band style musicianship. If you listen closely, you can hear the past, present and future of gospel manifesting right before your eyes.
Honestly, the brothers all remind me of the kind of singing you’d easily find in the southern barbershops of yesteryear. The Soul Seekers make quartet music that is current with music for this generation and music that draws in all ages. This sound is definitely needed and still relevant.
