Can you get sued for giving a review of a business online. That is certainly the case when, this week, a child care center filed a lawsuit against a mother who posted a bad review online at Google.com .

In the lawsuit filed by RLB Inc. , the parent company of the Blue Ash Educational Building, they are accusing Erinn Richard of knowingly making false statements about the local child care center. With an unknown alias , Erinn wrote on Oct 6, 2010 :

Horrible I found this school to be a complete mystery. My child attended this school and we as parents were to drop them off, being unable to ever go into the classroom on a day to day basis. I never met my sons teacher when he moved to another classroom and was kept in the dark about his behavior. I would not recommend anyones pet to attend this school. A childs education requires parent and teacher education and i didn’t receive it from that place. NEVER AGAIN!!!

So the big question is this: Is this lawsuit a violation of free speech? Is it libel to talk bad about a business online? Is it now unsafe to talk bad about a business on a website? Let us know by writing your comments below.
