Wish you can take off work this Thursday to go watch the Reds play on opening day? With petitioners trying to make opening day an official holiday, you might just be able to.

Michael Schuster, president of MSA Architecture in downtown, is organizing with his staffers to collect signatures to pursuade the city to making opening day an official holiday. With enough signatures collected, a referendum could be put on the ballot this November, stating:

In honor of the city of Cincinnati’s rich baseball tradition, the Cincinnati Reds first home game of each Major League Baseball season, also known as Reds Opening Day, shall be recognized as an official city holiday.

If you’re interested in signing their petition, they will be around during the parade and at the game collecting signatures. You can also get more information at their website.
