Sad music news shook the industry once again over the weekend with the reports that Ali-Ollie Woodson, one of the classic R&B’s vocalists who led the legendary Motown quintet The Temptations in the 1980s and ’90s, passed away at age 58. He was in part responsible for helping to restore them to their hit-making glory with songs including “Treat Her Like A Lady.”

Woodson died Sunday in southern California after battling cancer, Motown Alumni Association President Billy Wilson said after speaking with Woodson’s wife, Juanita, who originally told him about her husband’s passing. Although he was not an original member of the legendary group, which had several lineup changes since it started in the 1960s, Woodson is highly respected and noted for being such an integral part in keeping the Temptations from becoming just nostalgia act.

We honor his life and his musical endeavors which help keep R&B and classic soul music alive today. For more on Woodson, please visit one of the following links.
