As you already know, commissioner-elect Chris Monzel won the election to fill the former seat of David Pepper. This means Monzel’s city council seat is open, and the Hamilton County Republican Party, yesterday, appointed Amy Murray to fill his seat. Some of you may remember Murray, who ran 12th in the 2009 election.

She is the second politician to replace an exiting council-member since 2009. Last year, Laketa Cole left her seat for a job in Ohio’s state government.

As stated in the city charter, the members of the exiting council-member’s party get to decide who will be their replacement. Murray is a former Procter & Gamble Co. manager, where she gained expertise in the Asian business market. She now operates her own consulting business. She was also the Hyde Park Community Council President. If you still need a refresher course on Amy Murray, check out her 2009 campaign speech below.
