Can you imagine being jailed for over a decade for a crime that suddenly doesn’t seem to deserve it’s punishment? That’s what’s seemingly happened for sisters Jamie and Gladys Scott, who have been behind bars for the last 15 years.

The two were involved in an incident that took place back in 1993 where two central Mississippi men were lured into a potentially deadly situation. Both were then struck in the head with a shotgun before their wallets were stolen from the scene of the altercation.

The Scott sisters were then were convicted of robbery and use of deadly weapon for the crime. They have been locked up now for more than 15 years on a double murder charge, but no one was actually killed in the incident. Odd, right? They reportedly only were involved in the beating and stealing of $11 from the men in the incident, yet their lives were sacrificed for more than a decade under parole guidelines that now don’t seem to have been so severe.

The sisters were recently questioned and a petition seeking clemency for the women has been submitted Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour showing signs, according to their lawyers, that they might see a release very soon.

To find out more about what happened and if they’ll actually be released from prison under new parole standards, check out the complete story at BlackAmericaWeb.com today.
