A Southwest Ohio city, outside of Dayton, faces a cut-off in federal funds, after the government found discrimination in their denial of bus stop applications.
The city of Beavercreek Ohio stopped three potential bus stops near their Fairfield Commons mall. City officials told Dayton’s Regional Transit Authority that they need to meet their city’s guidelines for building bus-stops: such as heating and air conditioning shelters and surveillance cameras.
Lawyers from the Federal Highway Administration’s office considered Beavercreek’s criteria to be discriminatory against African Americans, and ordered the city to devise a new criteria by September.
