A Hamilton County Juvenile Court policy, which requires juvenile teens to be shackled when in court, will no longer be enforced.
Judge Tracie Hunter, earlier this month, revised this policy. She believes that shackling juvenile defendants, while in court, could traumatize them and harm their mental state.
Hamilton County is now one of the few counties in Ohio that does not shackle juvenile court defendants.
The policy revision will be enforced starting this week.
