Plans are being made to remove a disputed inscription on the Martin Luther King memorial in Washington D.C.
Interior secretary Ken Salazar endorsed a plan,Tuesday, to remove a disputed inscription on the memorial statue. WTOP in Washington DC reports that he prefers removing the inscription, instead of replacing it with the fuller quotation.
The quote, that’s currently inscribed on the memorial is a paraphrase of King’s “Drum Major” speech. It has received criticism from not only King’s family, but also from poet Maya Angelou.
