After a long, bitter, and expensive campaign, President Barack Obama has won re-election.
Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. Obama secured his path to victory by winning several key battleground states.
Democrats are projected to retain control of the U.S. Senate, while Republicans are projected to retain the majority in the house.
In Hamilton County, Jim Neil will be Hamilton County’s first new sheriff in 25 years. Neil defeated Sean Donovan by 15,000 votes.
Incumbent members of Ohio’s congressional delegation are heading back to Washington.
Congressman Steve Chabot will hold on to his seat, after rolling to victory yesterday over Democrat Jeff Sinnard. In the second district, former Cincinnati Mayor candidate Brad Wenstrup has won the congressional seat originally held by Jean Schmidt.
Upstate, congressman Steve Stivers was also victorious over Pat Lane.
