In the city of Chicago, where the teacher’s strike is in its second week, Mayor Rahm Emanuel asked an Illinois state court to force the school teachers back to work.
Emanuel is pleading his case, to the court, that the two week strike strike should end because the strike is illegal.
The union immediately condemned the move as an act of vindictiveness by a bullying mayor.
The request, by Emanuel, argues that the labor action is illegal, because state law bars the union from striking on anything but economic issues.
