The fury of Hurricane Isaac slammed into Southeast Louisiana with strong winds and pounding rain. It was the first real test of the flood control systems, and emergency services in New Orleans.

Forcasters are warning that Isaac is generating dangerous storm surges and flooding.

All eyes are on New Orleans, and its $14 billion rebuilt levee system. The system was reinforced, after failing to contain Hurricane Katrina’s flooding in 2005.

They say that some of the parishes have been affected, due to some of the failed levees in the city. The president of one parish lost his roof, from the high winds of Hurricane Isaac.

The low-lying areas of Mississippi are flooded, as hurricane driven water rose several feet in most vulnerable areas.
