Yesterday, during the “Little Known Black History Fact” of the TJMS, Dr. Herbert Smitherman was honored for his work in the city. Hired by P&G as the first african-american, with a doctorate, Dr. Smitherman created many of the products the company distributes today. Some of the products he made were Crest Toothpaste, Safegaurd Soap, and Fabric Softener.
