The movie-turned-television series “Soul Food” may be returning to TV if Twentieth Century Fox’s development efforts are successful. The film of the same name was released in 1997, and it’s critical acclaim and profitability led to a Showtime series which ran from 2000-2004.
According to Mediabistro, the updated version of “Soul Food” is in early development, but executives are interested in making it happen. No word on if the “Soul Food” cast would return, or if it would air on Fox or another television network. Some are speculating that it would work well on BET since they seem to be committed to make more scripted series.
