Very rarely do we get to celebrate all the celebrity birthdays from around the world, but today one of gospel music’s biggest names beat us to the punch in wishing the Rev. Al Sharpton a very special birthday so we had to show our love, too.

Legendary performer Gladys Knight spoke with The Tom Joyner Morning Show crew early this morning about what she calls a “full circle moment” just before the celebration of National Train Day (May 7th) with Amtrak. Honored to serve as the spokeswoman of the national event, Ms. Gladys discussed the growing list of events, live performances and special appearances surrounding the project and collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of America with Denzel Washington and Jennifer Lopez. Also featured is her commentary on how ironically her hit single “Midnight Train to Georgia” is still progressing because of movements like this.

HOTHIPHOPDETROIT.COM – Twitter is a buzz with news that Nathaniel D. Hale, known in the music industry as Nate Dogg, died Tuesday, his family announced.

The rap star, born and reared in Long Beach, California was 41.

Cause of death is not known. However, Hale had suffered two strokes, one in 2007 and another in 2008.

In a recent interview with Singersroom.com, contemporary gospel artist Tye Tribbett dropped a bomb on the reporter as he spoke of his recent infidelity issues that almost destroyed his marriage for good.

The singer/songwriter revealed that he was suffering from depression and even contemplated suicide during the breakdown of his marriage.

The cause of the breakdown? The singer has no qualms now admitting that he was involved in an affair with a female member of his noted choir just last year. The breakdown continued when his wife Shante decided to turn around and do the same to her husband.

Tye Tribbett states in the interview he contemplated suicide daily over his family’s relationship issues.

Since the tumultuous period in their marriage, the two have now reconciled and are moving forward with a fresh start – for themselves as husband and wife, but also as parents of their two young daughters.

As the lead single from choir legend James Hall’s most recent offering, Won’t It Be Wonderful, I love this record because it’s fresh and it’s still one of those songs any choir can get ahold of and really work on a Sunday morning. Simple, catchy and it has a message straight from the scripture.
